RESUME ARTICLE

Men have always played critical roles in the women’s movement. From John Stuart Mill to Fredrick Douglass, male allies have long supported the struggle for gender equality. And today there are plenty of men who are proud feminists – just ask Andy Murray, who hired and championed a female coach, Amélie Mauresmo; or Ryan Gosling, who has become something of a feminist icon. But there is still a long way to go, and we’ll only get there by drawing more men into the conversation.

Despite all the progress made, men still dominate positions of power. And, as a string of recent harassment scandals has shown, the behaviour of some men has had profound effects on women’s careers, their success and their lives. The good news, as we mark International Women’s Day, is that many men are acknowledging the importance of playing their part to make gender equality a reality.

A new study by Ipsos Mori, in collaboration with the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at King’s College London (of which I am the chair) and International Women’s Day, has found that while a third of British men think they are being expected to do too much to support women’s equality, far more – half – do not. In fact, three in five men in Britain agree that gender equality won’t be achieved unless they also take action to support women’s rights.

Despite attempts in some quarters to paint gender equality as a zero-sum game, there are plenty of win-win propositions for these men to advocate. Better parental leave for fathers would be a good start. Sorry, Piers Morgan, but the vast majority of respondents to our survey don’t believe that childcare is emasculating, with 75% of people globally disagreeing that a man who stays at home to look after his children is less of a man.

Government policy needs to catch up with this new reality, and the evidence is clear that, unless paternity leave is non-transferable and well paid, uptake will be low. Sweden and Norway show us that the introduction of the “daddy quota” – the period of parental leave reserved specifically for fathers – has a positive effect on male take-up of parental leave, and then on men’s long-term involvement in household work and childcare. This reaps economic dividends, as women’s talents are no longer lost to the labour force, and having an involved father has a positive effect on children’s wellbeing.

Men want employers to do more. Globally, three-quarters (72%) agree that employers should make it easier for men to combine childcare with work. We are seeing an increasing number of jobs that offer flexible working schemes to do just this, but too often they are targeted at women, and associated with being on the “mummy track”. We need to tackle this flexibility stigma, and the most effective way to do so would be to encourage more men to take on part-time and flexible work.

Businesses need not fear: research links flexible working to increased productivity, as better work-life balance leads to happier, more effective workers.

Women gain from having flexible partners, too. A study of German couples found that having a partner who works flexibly boosted the wages of men and women, with the effect most pronounced for mothers. Conversely, women whose partners work very long hours are significantly more likely to quit the labour force – taking their talent and experience with them.

For those who wonder why, on International Women’s Day, I’m writing an article focusing on men, I hope you’ve detected something of a theme. Gender equality is not a “women’s issue”. As the theme for IWD this year encapsulates, it is better for balance, better for all of us.

RESUME :

Men have always played important roles in the women’s movement. Now, there are plenty of men who are proud feminists. Feminism is an ideology or an understanding that states equal rights between men and women. Feminism is often interpreted as a movement for women's emancipation that speaks of improving the position of women and rejects the difference in degrees between women and men. Many men are acknowledging the importance of playing their part to make gender equality a reality in international woman’s day.

There are 75% of people in global disagree that a man who stays at home to look after his children is less of a man. Sweden and Norway show us that the introduction of the period of parental leave reserved specifically for fathers has a positive effect on male take-up of parental leave, and then on men’s long-term involvement in household work and childcare. It given economic dividends, since women’s talents are no longer lost to the labour force, and having an involved father has a positive effect on children’s welfare.

Women also get an advantage from having flexible partners. According from study of German having a partner who works flexibly can improve the salary of men and women, with the effect most pronounced for mothers.. Otherwise, women whose partners work very long hours are significantly more likely to quit the labour force.

Your morning routine sets the tone for the rest of the day. Here are 10 simple habits that you can use to create a morning routine that will set you up for success.

Have you ever noticed when your morning starts in a frenzy—snoozing your alarm, skipping breakfast, and rushing yourself out the door—the rest of your day seems to reflect that mood of chaos as well?

The tone of your morning will determine the tone of your day, so it’s time to start planning accordingly. When you form healthy habitual behaviors for the morning, you set your day up for success.

Whether you are aware of them or not, you operate under habits (both good and bad) all the time—they are an integral part of your daily existence. Part of developing a healthy habit, is to become intentional with it. Most habits are formed because they are easy or along the path of least resistance. If you want to cultivate positive habits, then you may need to put some intentional effort into forming them until they become second nature.

This is particularly true with morning habits. What you cultivate in the morning influences how you feel, act, and think during the rest of your day.

Here are 10 simple habits that you can add into your morning routine now, to ensure you are feeling, acting, and thinking at your highest potential for the rest of your day—and days—ahead.

1. Snooze Your Smartphone
If the first thing you do when you wake up is check your smartphone for messages or work email, you are doing yourself a disservice. You are immediately cultivating a reactive mindset, instead of a proactive one, which will cause you to start your day in a defensive state, rather than a place of inner peace and control.

Instead, try remaining detached from technology for the first hour of your day so you can begin your day with present-moment awareness and a positive focus.

2. Warm Water, Fresh Start
Drinking a glass of water in the morning after going hours without a sip is a good way to hydrate your body. The Ayurvedic technique of adding lemon to a warm glass of water helps remove toxins from your digestive tract that may have built up overnight, provides a good source of vitamin C, freshens your breath, supports weight loss, and stimulates metabolism and digestion. Bottoms up first thing in the a.m. for a healthy—and refreshing—start to your day.

3. What Are You Grateful For?
Before you even get out of bed, give yourself a few minutes to smile and practice gratitude. When you smile, it signals your brain to release the feel-good neurotransmitters (dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin), which lift your mood, relax your body, and lower your heart rate. Who wouldn’t want to start their day on this positive note?

As you smile, start to reflect upon what you’re grateful for. Studies have shown practicing gratitude reduces stress hormones and improves mood, among other benefits. So, adding a simple daily gratitude practice is a great way to kick-start your morning.

Begin by taking one minute in bed before you rise to reflect on one person and one opportunity you are grateful for in your life.

4. Make Your Bed
Tim Ferriss, author and podcast host (The Tim Ferriss Show) has interviewed more than a hundred highly successful people with diverse backgrounds and skillsets, and in a variety of industries. He always asks, “What’s your morning routine?” Along the way, he has collected five habits that he has incorporated into his morning routine, and one of them is making his bed.

It may seem like a waste of time, unimportant, or unnecessary (you’re just going to use it again at night), but making your bed is a simple action you can take in the morning that makes you start your day feeling accomplished—and what better tone to set than a sense of pride and accomplishment? Taking charge and completing simple tasks will give you the foundation to take on more and more throughout the day.

5. Meditate
Incorporating some type of mindfulness practice like meditation into your daily morning routine can help ground you and train your mind and emotions, which then influences how you react to challenges throughout your day.

During your meditation is also a great time to set your intention for the day. When you get clear on how you want your day to go or what you want to feel or accomplish, you can make clear decisions that create the life you truly want to live.

Note sure where to get started? Here is a simple meditation you can do in the morning:

Get into a comfortable seated position and set a timer for five minutes.

Close your eyes and focus on your breath.

Inhale through your nose for four counts, retain for four counts, and exhale through your nose for eight counts.

Every time you notice your mind wandering, gently guide it back to focus on your breath.

When the timer goes off, release your counting, but stay seated with your eyes closed for a moment.

Set an intention for your day and visualize yourself meeting this intention.

Open your eyes, draw your arms up to the sky for a stretch, and then move on with your day, carrying the calm energy and intention with you.

6. Move Your Body
Whether it’s a simple yoga routine, a brisk walk with your pet, a quick set of sit-ups and push-ups, or hitting the gym to work off last night’s meal, starting off your day with movement energizes the body and the mind. Determine what kind of exercise is right for you and schedule it. It doesn’t have to be complicated, long, or intense, but having some sort of physical activity in the morning will get your blood flowing and help quiet any mental chatter. You can even switch up what kind of exercise you do every day to keep your routine interesting.

7. Start with Self-Care
Putting time and effort into your appearance helps build self-confidence. When you feel “put together,” it is one less thing to worry about throughout your day.

So, shower, wash your face, brush your teeth, floss, comb your hair, apply lotion/oil, dress to impress, and apply any other hygiene/grooming habits that make you feel good about yourself. This may involve picking out your clothes the night before (especially if you are short on time in the morning) or ironing your clothes—whatever makes you feel like you are taking care of your health, looking presentable, and feeling confident.

8. Eat a Healthy Breakfast
You’ve most likely heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you make time to eat a healthy breakfast (lean proteins, healthy fats, and whole grains), you’ll have more energy throughout the day and a stronger ability to focus and concentrate.

9. Rediscover Your “To-Do” List
Take a few minutes to write down a “to-do” list for the day ahead. Then prioritize it so your day’s list has only 3 to 5 items on it—ranked in order of priority to make sure you tackle the most pressing things first.

Writing down your “to-do’s” instead of keeping them floating around in your mind helps clear mental chatter. You also give yourself a sense of purpose each day when you know what you need to get done. And there is something satisfying about crossing off tasks on your list—it really cultivates a sense of accomplishment.

10. Get Enough Restful Sleep
This last one isn’t a habit for your morning exactly ... however, before you can hope to implement new, healthy morning habits, you should have the foundation of a well-rested body and mind. The way you feel while you're awake is dependent in part on your sleep habits. If you’ve been feeling groggy, irritable, or exhausted, you may not be getting enough quality sleep.

During sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health. In fact, sleep plays such a vital role in your physical well-being, mental clarity, and quality of life that ongoing sleep deficiency (the amount varies by individual, but typically this means less than 6 to 8 hours of restful sleep each night) can have adverse effects on your health—and how well you think, react, work, learn, and get along with others.

what causes flu

WHAT CAUSES FLU

Flu or influenza is a viral infection that attacks the nose, throat, and lungs. Flu sufferers will experience fever, headaches, colds, nasal congestion, and cough.

Many people think the flu is the same as a common cold. Although the symptoms are similar, both conditions are caused by different types of viruses. Flu symptoms are more severe and attack suddenly, whereas the symptoms of a common cold cough tend to be mild and appear gradually. Flu is a disease that is easily transmitted to others, especially in the first 3-4 days after the patient is infected. Even in some cases, people with flu can transmit the disease before symptoms appear.

A person can catch the flu if accidentally inhaling a splash of saliva in the air, which is released by the patient when sneezing or coughing. In addition, touching the mouth or nose after holding an object that is affected by a splash of saliva, can also be a means of transmission of the flu virus.
Symptoms of flu include fever, runny nose, nasal congestion, and headaches. Although it is the same as the symptoms of a common cold cough, flu symptoms are more severe and often strike suddenly.

Immediately see a doctor if the above symptoms do not improve after two weeks, or improve but then worsen. Emergency measures need to be taken if flu symptoms are accompanied by shortness of breath or loss of consciousness.

Why COVID-19 Impacts International Trade

 EXPLANATION TEXT

Corona virus or Covid-19 is a form of collection of viruses which is capable of carrying out an infection of the entire respiratory system. Then the virus itself will cause mild respiratory infections such as flu. Found in the Wuhan City area, China which is at the end of December 2019. The virus itself will transmit very quickly and will also be able to spread to other regions in China and now in March 2020 it has entered Indonesian territory.

The corona virus is very bad in many aspects, especially in international trade. The outbreak of the corona virus (Covid-19) since the end of December 2019 has hampered international trade traffic. Imagine, the corona virus even spread to various parts of the world quickly. An increase in the price of a number of food commodities occurred due to delays in imports due to the Covid-19 discourse.

The global economy could shrink by one percent by 2020 due to the new Corona Virus pandemic or COVID-19, and could contract further if restrictions on economic activity are extended without an adequate fiscal response.

China is the world's biggest exporter. Indonesia often imports from China and China is one of Indonesia's largest trading partners.
The presence of the Corona virus in China has caused Chinese trade to deteriorate.
This has an effect on world trade, including in Indonesia. Declining demand for
raw materials from China such as coal and palm oil will disrupt the export sector in Indonesia,
which
can cause a decrease in commodity and mining product prices.

Trade sector tax revenues also declined even though trade had the second largest contribution
to tax revenue. Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), oil and gas and non-oil exports
have decreased due to China being the largest importer of crude oil. In addition, the spread of the Corona
virus also resulted in a decrease in production in China, even though China became the center of world
goods production. If China experiences a decrease in production, the global supply chain will be disrupted
and can disrupt the production process that requires raw materials from China. Indonesia is also very
dependent on raw materials from China, especially plastic raw materials, textile raw materials, electronic
parts, computers and furniture.

Indonesia is one of the countries that enforces travel bans to and from China to reduce the spread
of the Corona virus. This ban caused a number of airlines to cancel their flights and some airlines were forced
to continue operating even though the majority of the seats were empty to fulfill passenger rights.
Many consumers are delaying booking their holiday tickets because of the increasingly widespread Corona virus
spread. This situation caused the government to act by giving discounts to tourists for the destinations of Denpasar,
Batam, Bintan, Manado, Yogyakarta, Labuan Bajo, Belitung, Lombok, Lake Toba and Malang. In Europe also
applies rules where airlines must use around 80 percent of flight slots operating outside the European continent so
as not to lose slots to competitors. Not only in Indonesia that limits travel to China, but other countries such as Italy,
China, Singapore, Russia, Australia and other countries also apply the same thing.

The Tradition "Ujungan" to Call Rain

REPORT TEXT

Ujungan is a ritualistic tradition in asking for rain in central and eastern Java. This tradition is performed when the dry season is long. Through this ritual, men are chosen to display each other's strength of atosing balung, wuleding kulit ( kerasnya tulang, kuatnya kulit) coupled with aesthetic action. At first glance, Ujungan is look like a hard sport because it is using a stick to beat his opponent on his thigh down. The more blood that goes out the quicker it starts to rain. But underneath the rigorous performing of the ritual, there was a message of peace, which was never to hurt if you didn't want to be hurt. Ujungan is not do every year, but is performed only when long dry season or until mangsa kapat, to a peak in mangsa kalima, there is no rain.

In jombang, the Ujungan dance is do in the dry season. The purpose of the tradition is in an effort to ask the Lord for rain. The same as those in probolinggo, the dancer who was to be flogged did so without being told what to do but voluntarily. Over time, the Ujungan dance, which was originally used as a means for requesting rain, was now performed only as an art and ordinary entertainment show. The average, dancer gets a few tens of thousands of rupiah for once perform.

In the show, there's no provision for who wins and who loses. The game ends when the two squabbled dancers have had enough.

The Ujungan tradition begins with the events of the people of the village of gumelem wetan, Susukan Sub-District, about the 1813th. The origin of the ujungan tradition grew when the village of gumelem wetan ( at that time is Padukuhan Karang tiris) was in a very long dry season, and as a result, more than a few farmers were constantly fighting over water for the rice fields or fields. The way to water the rice fields in rotation was no longer honored by farmers.

On Friday kliwon, when it was in a water source that two farmers were fighting over water to irrigate the rice field, Ki Singakerti that now the argument couldn't resolve the difference, because the incontinent farmers didn't want peace. Ki Singakerti gave each of these two a Rasihe Wood to hit each other. Events long enough to cause the two farmers to bleed wounds and much blood. Soon, the rain came and I found that it was very heavy rain

The two farmers woke up from the things they had done, and immediately they apologized to each other and offered gratitude for the presence of almighty god who had given the gift of rain. Plants can flourish again, and paddy fields and farmers can be prepared to obtain results in order to sustain their lives. The "sagical" event between the two farmers, by a figure in the coordinating of the Karang Tiris, which is Ki Singakerti and the Demang in Gumelem then and its farmers, was both a warning or momentum that has finally, to this day, been a Mujung tradition.
